It was a beautiful day in Belfast for moving giant masts. This main mast is 27 meters long and made of Douglas fir. It’s on the way south now along with the foremast where they will be placed on the 116′ schooner “Noelani” to sail the world.
We finished building a new mast for the 1957 Sparkman & Stephens ketch Mermaid. This spar is 56 feet long and made of Sitka spruce. She’ll be sporting her new mast in the Penobscot Bay this summer, and racing as usual in and around New England.
